Kahului and Wailuku, located on the northern part of the central Maui Valley, together create the most populated area on Maui and serve as the main commercial center.
With Kahului Airport nearby, most visitors to Maui experience the urban sprawl of Kahului and Wailuku only on their way in and out of the airport.
The area however has several hotels that offer easy access to some of Maui nature wonders including world-famous windsurfing at Hookipa Beach Park, the Iao Valley State Monument, Haleakala National Park, the Maui Up Country and the Road to Hana.
