The Wailua area is located at the center of the Coconut Coast that extends 10 miles from Kappa to Lihue.
The Coconut Coast is the most developed on Kauai, and Wailua is the most developed are on the coast.
The town of Wailua and the surrounding area are dotted with condo resorts, restaurants and shopping centers. Though commercial, Wailua is still much less crowded than similar tourist developments on the other islands.
Nearby attractions include Fern Grotto and Wailua River, Opaekaa and Wailua Falls, sugar plantation villages and a museum.
Hotels and condo resorts in Wailua are mostly oceanfront and provide easy access to the airport.
