Waikoloa is located on the northwestern sunny side of the Big Island, about 15 miles north of the Keahole Kona Airport.

Waikoloa has two main sections: the beach resort area and the town located 5 miles from the beach up on the slopes overlooking the ocean.

The coastal area of Waikoloa has big luxury destination resorts, golf courses, a shopping center with cultural activities, restaurants and white-sand beaches. Waikoloa Village has shops and a supermarket.
