While it can be argued whether or not Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the most impressive of all the National Parks, there is one fact that cannot be argued - it is the only National Park that is constantly growing in size.
The park has two popular focal points: the Kilauea Caldera and the southeastern eruption location of Kilauea. Both the Caldera and the eruption location are accessible by car.
With about 140 miles of hiking trails, and a varied scenery ranging from tropical to sub-arctic, Volcanoes National Park is also one of the best places in the US for long hiking and camping trips.
Hotels and accommodation options in and around Volcanoes National Park are fairly limited compared to those on other parts of the Big Island. Volcano House Hotel is located inside the park and several Bed and Breakfast alternatives are in the vicinity.
